GPT-4 (not sure about earlier versions) is able to render equations nicely, presumably using LaTeX (and possibly MathJAX lib in browser).
When these conversations are shared the math formatting is lost. Here's an example where it took me a little while to pursuade GPT-4 to cooperate, but eventually it gave some nice formatting for the answer.
