Types of fuel #3

Car in Brazil can have up to THREE types of fuel, Gasoline, Ethanol or Natural Gas. Natural gas have it's own tank, Gasoline and Ethanol can be mixed in the regular tank. The switch from natural gas and the liquid mixture is done manually with a switch.

It is quite likely possible to modify almost any car with indirect gasoline injection to burn all three types of fuel. By Ethanol I assume you mean E85. Also it might be technically possible to do such modifications to a hybrid electric car which would result in 4 types of fuel in one car. I am not aware about any cars in existence that have such modifications. Are you?

Here in Brazil I think it's possible. We have some Ford and Toyota hybrids that can run on Ethanol and Gasoline and that could theoretically accept the conversion kit to also use natural gas.

From the practical perspective, in Poland, we don't have (bio)ethanol E85, but hybrid cars are sometimes equipped with LPG. Usually taxis, but it's not a rule. The switch from gasoline to gas is fully automated when specified conditions are met (i.e. engine's temperature). Having two tanks, in fact, extends a range of both mild and plug-in hybrids by 70-80%.

In the video below (English CC'd) you can see how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-DQxaMBETQ&vl=en

This video is provided by one on the vendors, but there aren't the only one.

You can also read the article below for some details (it's in Polish, but an online translator should help): https://autokult.pl/30735,czy-oplaca-sie-montowac-lpg-do-hybrydy-mozesz-zaoszczedzic-kilka-tys-zl-rocznie

Might be best to send a PR with expected changes where we can discuss the details...

This Issue is old, but there technically are some cars that run on wood / wood gas
