Growing Instructions: http://www.instructables.com/id/Growing-Your-Own-Miracle-Fruit/ This is going to be my pet project as soon as I have some growing space!

I've ordered these Synsepalum dulcificum seeds from a seller in China: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20pcs-New-Rare-Miracle-Fruit-Garden-Plant-Fresh-Synsepalum-Dulcificum-Seeds/382048449526 image I figure 99p (including postage) is worth a punt.

If you are able to grow the "Miracle Berries", de-seed and dry them ... the powder sells for $2.14 per gram! https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Miracle-Berry-Synsepalum-Dulcificum/dp/B077P38GL7 miracle-berry-powder

I'm really surprised these aren't widespread... πŸ’ (I can only assume they are difficult to grow commercially ... and/or very labor-intensive...?)

This article in the Telegraph from 2008: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/3345529/Hunting-the-miracle-berry.html

stated:

Makes sour foods taste sugar laden and reacts strangely to other foods. Red wine tastes like blackcurrant juice, goat's cheese like mozzarella, Guinness has been likened to "fizzy Nesquik'". Effects last from 30 mins to 2 hours.

Popular with cancer patients (the berry allegedly counteracts a coppery taste in the mouth brought on by chemotherapy) and with diabetics who need to limit their sugar intake.

A potential weapon in the fight against obesity.

2g of freeze-dried miracle fruit costs Β£5 and fresh (subject to availability) costs Β£3 a berry (minimum order of 10) from www.miraclefruit.co.uk.

http://www.miraclefruit.co.uk/products/miracle-fruit-berries out-of-stock ... 😞 but £1.60 each berry. miracle-fruit-uk-out-of-stock

Wow! Crazy! I hadn't heard of these before, but would be up for trying to grow them.

nelsonic commented 6 years ago

@NataliaLKB if you text InΓͺs your postal address I will put your seeds in an envelope and mail them to you 1st class tomorrow. πŸ“¦ They require a "careful" control of the growing conditions (soil PH, moisture & temperature) 🌻 nothing you aren't already used to from your existing plants ... 🌢 but you may want to grow them indoors. 🏑
