Closed nelsonic closed 1 month ago

nelsonic commented 2 years ago

Once I finish my [last!] client project at the end of next week, one of the first things I intend to do is comprehensively update the README.md of this repo. (and of start-here)

opening this issue now to add it to my β€œtodo list”. Please ignore. πŸ‘πŸ»

I really want to work on this task. It's easily my highest priority from a communication perspective. πŸ”₯ But there are dependencies / linked issues I need to open and reference first ... πŸ’

3 Phase Plan:

  1. Build a software product that people love using to solve their real problem: dwyl/product-roadmap |> dwyl/app ❀️ βœ… Iterate for as long as it takes to add the features we need and achieve product-market-fit (i.e. people will pay money for) Feedback very much welcome e.g: https://github.com/dwyl/mvp/issues/140
  2. Finish the house we (currently) live in: dwyl/home 🏑 and make it available [at cost price] to other people in our team/community.
  3. Buy Land https://github.com/dwyl/phase-two/issues/25 with lots of water. a. Install world-class irrigation system . πŸ’§
    b. Plant Lots of Trees https://github.com/dwyl/phase-two/issues/6 🌳 c. Construct a sustainable community. πŸ‘Ά πŸ‘΅

@iteles are any of these unclear?

iteles commented 2 years ago

None of this is unclear πŸ‘ It's just a wonderfully simplistic view, particularly around number 2 and its sustainability (which I'm totally onboard with and is what we need).

1 & 2 are very much happening simultaneously (and need to keep doing so).

nelsonic commented 2 years ago

@iteles "simplistic" as in "stick figure" or as in E=mc2 πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

nelsonic commented 4 months ago

This is a example/suggested room usage timetable:

Time Play Room Library Workshop Secret Garden Pool
07:00 - 08:30 Quiet Music Quiet Read Quiet Work Kids Any
08:30 - 09:00 Louder Music Kids Read Noisy Build Kids Clean
09:00 - 11:50 Kids Music Kids Read Noisy Build Kids Anyone
12:00 - 13:00 Adult Music Clean + Reset Mid-Volume Build Planting Time Adults
13:00 - 15:00 Quiet Music Quiet Read Quiet Build Planting / Kids Adults (quiet)
15:00 - 17:00 Clean + Reset Quiet Read Kids/Noisy Build Kids Kids
17:00 - 18:30 Anyone Quiet Reading Noisy Build Clean + Reset Family
18:30 - 19:30 Adult (Noisy) Music Quiet Read Quiet Build Yoga / Pilates Family
19:30 - 20:00 Quiet Music / Film Quiet Read Clean + Reset Meditation Leisure
20:00 - 21:00 Quiet Games / Film Adult Quiet Read Laser + 3D Print! Martial Arts Triathlon
21:00 - 07:00 Quiet Games / Film Inspiring Reading Prep Next Day Closed Closed

This is purely illustrative. I think this should also include the dining room; which can/could be used for other activities outside of meal times ...

In reality each room/area would have a printed + laminated timetable so that it's immediately clear to everyone what the room is reserved / used for at any time.

If we're feeling very techventurous, we could install an e-Ink display with a low-power ESP32 in the door/wall of the room/area, that would refresh every half-hour and clearly highlight the current time/activity.

iteles commented 3 months ago

@nelsonic First of all, thank you for taking the time to make this update.

The play room is the basement music room, correct? And the large room on the middle floor will be reserved as a co-working space at all times?

I feel like we need to have a less prescriptive version of the adult timetable, specifying only the non-negotiables (when to be quiet, when allocated lunch/dinner prep times are because they could choose to eat in the garden outside at a different hour for example) because we have to be mindful of the fact that people will work on different timezones and have meetings with different timezones (even recurring meetings set up long before getting here). You may also have people who have different (more nocturnal) circadian rhythms and would prefer to read or exercise in the late mornings and work in the afternoons/evenings as an example - these people just need to know that x times are quiet times in x areas and that's it. Then give this version as an example timetable along with a couple more πŸ‘Œ

nelsonic commented 3 months ago

Again, these time tables are illustrative not set in stone. If you can improve on them, and we all know you can, please do. πŸ™
