Yesterday on our way from Cascais to Braga we did a T2h
detour via TinyHousePortugal #25 and discovered that they use Vlemmix aanhangwagens
for their trailers exclusively:
https://www.vlemmixaanhangwagens.nl/en/producten-categorie/tiny-house-en/
The trailers are made in the Netherlands and are imported to PT where they have to be homologated (legalised).
Best indication of the price of the trailer in DE is 4,860
including 19% Tax
:

On top of this they [TinyHousePortugal] charge transport and homologation/legalisation fees.
Brings the total for the trailer up to €6k
which is considerably more reasonable than the €10k
quoted by MadeiGuincho #26
But definitely more than it needs to cost and the lack of vertical integration still bugs me. It think the whole thing should be designed from the ground up to be a Tiny Home. That means the removable/lockable Grey+Soiled water tanks should be embedded in the trailer.
This body-on-frame design is super old-school. It's what the Detroit Auto industry is still doing with their "Trucks" e.g. Ford F150. But it shows a lack of vertical integration or update in design/manufacturing process.
The hard part about these trailers is homologation/legalisation. I think we need to pay the Atrelados e Reboques people above https://github.com/dwyl/tiny-house/issues/28#issuecomment-1259281288 a visit in 4430-188 Vila Nova de Gaia to discuss our options to design-from-scratch and they build it. 💭
Related to: dwyl/tiny-house#21 I would like to figure out if we could build a tiny home on wheels from scratch and how much it would cost.
Instead of limiting ourselves to
new
trailers (that cost more for less), we should expand our search to include second-hand "agricultural" trailers that can be repurposed: https://www.olx.pt/d/carros-motos-e-barcos/autocaravanas-roulotes-reboques/q-atrelado/?search%5Border%5D=filter_float_price:desce.g: this "Chico Reboque Mercadorias do ano 1990 com 7m cumprimento 2,45Largura 1,30 altura ... carrega ate 16T" https://www.olx.pt/d/anuncio/chico-reboque-atrelado-IDGKBV9.html
7m x 2.45m and carrying capacity up to 16 tons could make an epic tiny home on wheels. and since we won't be moving the house very often (if at all!) the format of the trailer doesn't really matter!
