Problem Description

On 28th February, 2023, the Ghana Health Service (Disease Surveillance Department) herein refer to as GHS-DSD requested (via email) for changes to be effected on the SORMAS platform. GHS-DSD acknowledged the fact that SORMAS is an essential tool in their surveillance system in Ghana. However, certain changes has to be done on the SORMAS platform to enhance its functionality and meet their specific demands.

Proposed Change

What began as a review of the SORMAS platform to propose changes for specific diseases (e.g., Yellow Fever, Meningitis, AHF, and AFP-Acute Flaccid Paralysis) has evolved into a request from GHS-DSD for the platform to adopt features—such as data entry field arrangements—that align closely or exactly with the case-based forms for these diseases. The four-mentioned diseases that was initially being reviewed increased to thirteen (13) namely:

  1. Yellow fever [Web - #157], [Android - #158]
  2. Meningitis
  3. AHF
  4. AFP
  5. Measles
  6. Monkeypox
  7. Covid-19
  8. Cholera
  9. Neonatal Tetanus (NNT)
  10. Guinea worm
  11. Influenza
  12. IDSR Immediate Case Based Form Other Conditions *New
  13. Foodborne illness *New
