I have misspelled this search, and we used to have a feature that would correct the spelling (that part seems to work) and then show a message "showing results for" that would then give other suggestions.

I don't think, that it is an error. The reason of this is, that stemming makes the suggestion out of the table. The suggestions displayed when there is no result at all. Try a term, which ends with an incorrect suffix, like "govermnet", it will give you the right term as suggestion.
