How to make this project sustainable? #773

This plugin is used in millions of projects.

I think it's about time for companies that profit from it to start supporting it. I also think that there are a lot of companies willing to do so. But I did not found documentation about the process.

So maybe Patreon, Open Collective or any other platform?

There are also a lot of PR's and contributions. Creating a team would also help in moving this project forward.

@eirslett What do you think?

That would definitely help. I no longer work in a company that uses this plugin (to my knowledge) so I don't have any personal investment/use cases for it. It takes quite a bit of time to maintain, at least if all issues and PRs are going to be answered.

Hi @eirslett . May I suggest registering the project on IssueHunt (I don't work for them). Looks like a few prominent projects are already getting their issues funded.

Hope this helps. Thanks!
