This branch (off of site-uw #203) contains two workarounds that permit analyses to do "strange" things:

allow having no samples whatsoever for a given configuration;
check validity of tree before calling tree.StopCacheLearningPhase(), to permit an analysis-step to brutalize the TChain in an unrecoverable way
