Steps to reproduce

Open Element
Open a room
Notice that some messages haven't rendered, despite being sent from another device. The timeline seems to be a bit behind.
Send a message
Notice that the message disappears immediately after sending.

Outcome

What did you expect?

Messages to appear in the timeline

What happened instead?

Messages did not appear in the timeline

I have a recording but it's sensitive so please ping for it.

I fixed this with a restart, so it's probably something racy on startup.
