From the official announcement:

Export list functionality and public API functionality (to enable support with apps like Taiga) have been requested for a long time now.

We've heard loud and clear that Taiga support, for example, is important to many when choosing an anime site.

Public API : End of June goal (or sooner if we can swing it). For basic information. Scope: anime database basic info lookup (manga, other types either as a v2 or in the same release). User anime/manga list updating capabilities.

Once the API becomes available, I'll be adding Anime-Planet as a supported service to Taiga.

Although the site feels redundant with so many list service providers, the site could prove to be worth supporting
