Following the things we learnt at our most recent trial run, I'd like to change the licensing module a bit. Less abstract theory, more practical guidance. And I've realised that the questions a research software supporter will get are probably going to be similar to the questions I get at the eScience Center:
I've found some software online, can I use it?
I want to share my software, can I do that and how do I do that?
I want to contribute to some other software, is that okay? Can we sign a CLA?
A lot of this stuff is still going to rely on a local software policy, but at least we can give some general directions.
