I would also really like this. I have my vacation planned in Google Maps and
when I export to Earth, it just draws
a straight line between points, losing all driving features.

Yes please, thank you Google Earth people, that would be a great improvement.
It's not really an alternative having to draw all the inbetweens to get a
correct
route. Without this option there's really no point in the Google-Maps-export
possibility. When or wherever can you go in a straight line from A to B?

I would really like this too - including a "flattening" of the data between
points
so that the exported klm has more information for sports GPS units.

This is strange. You can "get directions" from A to B and it will place path by
road, but you can not snap to roads while add custom path.
I can't udrstand why some features only in "earh" (e.g. elevation profile), and
other only in "maps" (e.g. snap to roads, more than two destinations while
getting directions etc.)
Very strange situation for me.
