I think it could work visually but, did you check that the cursor has been captured? so after clicking the app you can immediately start writing in the vs code editor as example or the terminal?
this issue was the reason why I started using the force foreground function.
Yes, I tested it, also with the seelen toolbar, written the app name, also immediately can start typing and work as expected. In this video my mouse do not leave the taskbar and you can see the toolbar focus, aspp focus with accent color and immediate typing.

I've been tested this since some days... it works on my machine... could you test it?
