These objects are very often guests in most of Hexen maps, and seeing them as full sprites while we have a proper brightmaps is a pain. It took some time to make them b-mapped without sprite editing (i.e. make them resource-independent), but after couple of hours I finally did it. Fortunately, there will be no straying pixels, but unfortunately just a 2-3 pixels on certain frames will be unlit because of this. This is barely noticeable though, let's imagine it's a flying ember.
Bottom part of flaming skull is also becomes full bright, as it shares same colors with flame. Not 100% perfect, but let's imagine there is a... Vent air holes at the bottom of the skull. It's not really noticeable in the game any ways, since nearly all sectors with this skull is almost always lit up enough.
In Inter I went a bit wilder with few extra objects by applying brightmap+halfbright technique, but not sure I want to suggest it, because of it's something a bit too much, let my fads remain my fads. 🙂 It almost unnoticeable in game anyway.
