Describe the problem you'd like to solve
Education institutes are often not great (for a lot of reasons i can list) and also expensive.
An alternative option to learn stuff is self-study.
Self-studying is hard. What is hard about it:
Motivation from doing it yourself
Not having a guide
Not having a direction
Not knowing what are the best resources to use
Getting lost in too many resources online
Not getting feedback on if what you're doing is right
Not using effective methods of learning
Not getting qualifications out of it to prove to employers
How can we use tech to help?
Questions to consider
How can one make self-study a more community experience?
How can we provide support to self-studiers from experts?
How do we make self-studying free/inexpensive/value for money?
How can we empower self-studiers with recognised qualifications?
Who are the stakeholders?
Everyone interested in learning stuff
What is currently being done to solve this problem?
1) Open University --- not effective for many disciplines (e.g. maths is rubbish on it). also expensive.
2) Lots of free online resources.... however support is limited if you get stuck.
