We don't seem to have needed the feature even when we added the dependency on futures in https://github.com/facebook/watchman/commit/9c897ce3b6bbc669d4d194e0adeffa8fae9aeba5. Maybe it was just copied from somewhere.

I initially sent a PR for this but it was too complicated for me to sign the CLA so I'm filing this issue instead.
