The standard format for codelist includes 4 columns: code
, uri
, label
, definition
. This format is understood by dcf-shiny / geoflow/ openfairviewer tools. In the case of species, handling the scientific name as 'definition' let us add the scientific name when handling species dropdown lists:
The R script that generates the species code list does use the scientific name for the definition, i.e., the information is duplicated between "definition" and "taxon_scientific_name. I am not sure it is so pertinent to actually include a "definition" for each taxon included in ASFIS. What would be the rationale for that?
