timthumb public server / service / business idea #63

hi there,
I need timthumb to resize external images for my blog,
but I'm affraid of possible exploids, and shared hosting overload.

it would be really nice to have a website/service with a public timthumb
installation that would serve thumbs on demand.

something like: <img
src=“htto://timthumbserver.com/timthumb.php?src=/images/whatever.jpg&h=150&w=1
50&zc=1″
alt=“”>

*thumbs could come with a little advertising if needed,
but I think it can be a good service.

imagine, a fast server, with all thumbs cached...
nice!

what do you think?

I love the idea. Maybe i'll do it. I know some fast freehost with unlimited
space and tons of ads. No one would notice the ads (since everyone would just
see the pics) and everyone would be a winner. Doing it asap.

Is it possible to save the resized image? How to do that?

You can use http://docs.sencha.com/io/src/ to resize images using an external
process if you need to.

Looks like this bug turned into a discussion thread about life, the universe
and everything. Closing.
