Topic 8: StaCaseWall (Case) restructure or workflow? #781

DISCUSSION POINTS: What needs to happen in this field to cover every workflow aspect and use of Case in the life of an exhibit?

rondlg commented 1 year ago

DECISION(S): Keep this as as lookup list Case layout number assignment. Note that this is different from when the current location of the object states a case number, since that would not be in effect during the planning of the exhibition, or once the exhibition is over. If a case has a letter-suffix, include a space (but no hyphen) between the number and letter, e.g.: 9 a In the instances where objects appear only on wall elevations instead of in case layouts, such as when framed works are arranged on a wall, use the format: elev.0# for single digit numbers elev:12 for double digit numbers Entered and maintained by developers. The space assists in sorting when the data exported to excel.

At our check-in meeting we discussed creating a default string to help us start to separate out the data in the eexhibitobjects/StaCaseWall field, now called "Case" into the three fields it will become after the update. For new records, can you insert the default:

[Layout] | [Order] | [Case]

The words correspond to the three future fields:

Layout = Designer case layout # during development Order = Final post-opening location number (or order for traveling) Case = Attachment to case inventory record
