Project details:

Share a brief history of your project and organization.

This is a project to determine the feasibility of using web3/blockchain as data storage for modern neuropathology and experimental pathology data.  The goal is to store original data so that others may perform secondary analyses of pre-existing datasets.

What is the primary source of funding for this project?

Self Sufficient

What other projects/ecosystem stakeholders is this project associated with?

Brain Pathology (journal) and Ohio State University

Use-case details

Describe the data being stored onto Filecoin

De-identified images of brain biopsies, image analysis code, text, Preclinical research data performed with mice with ethics approval.  All data has undergone ethics board approval.

Where was the data in this dataset sourced from?

Ohio State University

How will you be distributing your data to storage providers? Is there an offline data transfer process?

Distribution will be via an offline transfer process

How do you plan on choosing the storage providers with whom you will be making deals? This should include a plan to ensure the data is retrievable in the future both by you and others.

Storage providers ideally would be committed to future plans of storing additional data from this project. As this is just an initial proof-of-concept to understand the ecosystem, this dataset will hopefully not be the last. We are looking for reputable storage providers to store this data. We encourage storage providers to reach out to us to inquire about storing this dataset.

How will you be distributing deals across storage providers?

The files will either be sent via transferring drive to their location or hosting the files online where they can download from or a mix of both.

Do you have the resources/funding to start making deals as soon as you receive DataCap? What support from the community would help you onboard onto Filecoin?
