Now that the LearningEquality and Khan Academy wizards have the i18n stuff moving along so well it might be time to consider leverage some of this awesome multilingual video by also including the subtitles in the dubbed language (or maybe TWO languages). For instance Portuguese subtitles in the portuguese dubbed videos.

Have you seen any such resources? Would be not to difficult to do this...

only in my mind's eye. English Language Learning is definitely on the KA List but I'm just looking for low hanging fruit. My guess is that the Portuguese and Spanish stuff might be this way by default ( accessibility and universal design almost demands it ). By the way the i18n stuff is looking awesome.

It should be possible to, for example, enable PT subtitles on PT dubbed videos, but the results may be unpredictable. The wording and timing may not be the same, depending on the style of redubbing. Could be a fun chaos, though!

As Frank McCourt put it ...Blessed are thou a monk swimming.... oops I meant his brother Malachy

Again in the spirit of Phase 2, I presume that there is huge potential in just the potential of adding a dictionary function and perhaps pronunciation between the English subtitles and other languages. Case in point might be Rwanda where they have switched the language of instruction to English. The ability to cut the words from the subtitles and paste them in some other search engine (at least on the internet) is huge. Eventually add some pictures to the mix and you have a huge vocabulary builder at least for the nouns and simple action verbs. How do you say Awesome in Xhosa?
