I think for an airborne spawn it makes sense to a) have some nominal payload rather than empty, and b) have weights and various other things pre-filled so everything works as if you'd conducted the flight normally up to that point. That would also help a lot for developers and QA testers.

Description
Somewhere in the future,
Have an option in EFB where VLS and VAPP are assumed based on current fuel and weather when a user just wants to do an approach and landing to practice landings.
The EFB can have a slider "Enable Approach Only" or something more relevant to the feature. The slider would enable the aircraft to calculate a VLS and VAPP speed in conjunction with weather somehow, so the MCDU has some sort of weight info when spawning in the air when someone only wants to do a landing.
When the slider is "off" it just simply disables the feature, meaning the VLS and VAPP aren't calculated when spawning in the air, but if a user spawns on the ground and leaves the feature on, then it just bypasses that since you spawn on the ground.
