it seems the network cant sync anymore or the releases are broken

The release is not broken. Minergate is using super old software despite all our efforts to make them update their software. This resulted as massive double spending and fork on their side: https://www.reddit.com/r/DashCoin/comments/6d51yn/17600000_dsh_double_spent_on_minergate/ The latest release of Dashcoin is on the right chain.
