it is greatly useful, and informative/educative, and in many situations a truly interesting conversation piece.
Thank you for such kind words - it feels good reading stuff like this. :)
In the 4x2 size (the rectangle world) of the Sun Position widget: Could you please add indicators for the Equator, the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn
Done. The widget has been changed to use the settings from the app's world map dialog. If the 'major latitudes' and 'graticule' options are set there, those lines should also appear on the widget (same for the 'location' dot, sunlight/moonlight, and background options). It was previously locked to defaults (all options off). I consider this is a workaround - I actually think it would be better to allow widgets to override these options, but since I don't like the way the configuration activity was written, I've avoided extending it further (until a proper redesign).
the indicator of the sun in the Sun Position widget is a circumference (thin, in red colour), not the easiest to distinguish from the yellow background
I see the widget is very low contrast. This should be fixed - the default widget colors are now the same as the app. Its also possible to customize those colors from the theme (adds 'fill' and 'stroke' colors to the editor). I see this is a problem in the map widgets too (also fixed).
change for the 4x1 widget that it would get the very same bar that is on the main page of app, being not overly tall bar it is way more stylish
A couple alternate layouts have been added to the widget that reduce the size of the bar.
the less tall bar provides more room for information since it open up space for text to be placed also below
to have an individual 1x1 widget just for showing that gives somewhat patched appearance for the homepage
I know what you mean - there is typically a lot of wasted space between widgets. The 'align base' option offers a workaround, in that its possible to group widgets around a corner or edge, but really the only way to use that space more efficiently is for separate widgets to be combined. I think the sun position widget could offer additional layouts (providing alternate labels).
Anyhow, changes to those labels aren't part of this latest patch (probably withheld until v0.15.0
), but the rest is in v0.14.4
(should be available on F-Droid now).
Hi,
'major latitudes' and 'graticule' options
I must confess that to this day I had not found the three button in the worldmap of the app. It is truly amazing how plentiful the Suntimes app is. Now the world map in the app looks so very very good. I'll install the 0.14.4 tomorrow (it is the Mother's Day here today).
Thank you very much!
Timo
In 4x1 size the indicator of the sun in the Sun Position widget is a circumference (thin, in red colour), not the easiest to distinguish from the yellow background. In the main/opening page of Suntimes app there is similar, but not so high/tall bar, in it the indicator for the sun is a solid red dot, very easy to see. I'm hoping for such change for the 4x1 widget that it would get the very same bar that is on the main page of app, being not overly tall bar it is way more stylish, it has the red solid dot for the sun, and in addition the less tall bar provides more room for information since it open up space for text to be placed also below to the bar). One information particularly that I really would like to see is the civil time of the solar noon, (currently the civil time of the solar noon can be shown by the 1x1 size of the Suntimes widget but to have an individual 1x1 widget just for showing that gives somewhat patched appearance for the homepage).
In the 4x2 size (the rectangle world) of the Sun Position widget: Could you please add indicators for the Equator, the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, e.g. by a thin dotted lines or something like that? Also, could there be some kind of indicator for the app position (e.g. a "+" or a dot). At least the Equator line, then the solar declination is easily observable.
Thank you very very much for this excellent app, it is greatly useful, and informative/educative, and in many situations a truly interesting conversation piece.
