The problem

image I'm not able to identify a "missing" device in this blueprint / automation.

Anything in the logs? Paste it here!

Interesting, this would mean there is a device trigger/condition/action that has an empty string set for the device it is targeting in your automation?

../Frenck

# Blueprint metadata
blueprint:

  description: |
    # Controller - IKEA E1743 TRÅDFRI On/Off Switch & Dimmer

Controller automation for executing any kind of action triggered by the provided IKEA E1743 TRÅDFRI On/Off Switch & Dimmer. Allows to optionally loop an action on a button long press.
    Supports deCONZ, ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT.

Automations created with this blueprint can be connected with one or more [Hooks](https://epmatt.github.io/awesome-ha-blueprints/docs/blueprints/hooks) supported by this controller.
Hooks allow to easily create controller-based automations for interacting with media players, lights, covers and more.
See the list of [Hooks available for this controller](https://epmatt.github.io/awesome-ha-blueprints/docs/blueprints/controllers/ikea_e1743#available-hooks) for additional details.

📕 Full documentation regarding this blueprint is available [here](https://epmatt.github.io/awesome-ha-blueprints/docs/blueprints/controllers/ikea_e1743).

Interesting. From the Blueprint:

    controller_device:
      name: (deCONZ, ZHA) Controller Device
description: The controller device to use for the automation. Choose a value only if the remote is integrated with deCONZ, ZHA.
      default: ''
      selector:
        device:

Which you haven't set (which I assume was intentional), which defaults to an empty string ''. This makes this input optional.

This is later assigned to/used in variables:

controller_device: !input controller_device
controller_id: '{% if integration_id=="zigbee2mqtt" %}{{controller_entity}}{% else %}{{controller_device}}{% endif %}'

It is also used for the following trigger:

  - platform: event
    event_type:
      - deconz_event
      - zha_event
    event_data:
      device_id: !input controller_device

The trigger is problematic, as it now basically created a trigger for device '' (empty string).

Spook picks this up, as this automation is listening for changes to a device that doesn't exist. Which is correct in a way I guess...

I could ignore these cases, but that feels wrong too. If you'd manually would have written such an trigger, it would have been nice Spook alerted one about it.

Hmm - to be honest, I don't quite understand it (my programming skills are pretty limited), so I can't suggest a good solution. Maybe it makes sense to cross reference the blueprint from the original developer which would be:

https://github.com/EPMatt/awesome-ha-blueprints/blob/main/blueprints/controllers/ikea_e1743/ikea_e1743.yaml

Cheers

Maybe it makes sense to cross reference the blueprint from the original developer which would be:

Spook has no idea. It does runtime inspection, which means that in this case, it check the Home Assistant automation engine, for which devices the automation is actively addressing. Which is, in this case, an device ''.

I'm not sure what to do in this case. I will check with the other HA core devs, as I think it is odd Home Assistant would even try/start to listen for triggers on a non-existing device.

Thx in advance!

Getting same issue, strangely its also with a ikea remote blueprint. image

bkbartk commented 6 months ago

same issue here I think image

but no blueprint involved, I had this trigger, removed this sensor, so the error came up as expected. then I went to automations, removed the complete automation. (not using the link in the message) checked configuration, and reloaded all automations, several times. but the error remains. I also checked the yaml, but the autmation is gone, still the message remains.

It could also be that HA doesn't reload automations as expected.
