Select, Cut, Copy and Paste would be really valuable #25

What steps will reproduce the problem?

This is a common problem for me:

1. I start drawing something, or handwriting a list.
2. I run out of room, and so continue writing beyond the page boundary. (Very
happy that I can do this.)
3. Later, when reviewing the notes, I want to move that content to a new page,
or otherwise re-organize the content so is more logical, but there don't seem
to be features in Quill to enable this.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I would like to see something similar to other painting and vector drawing
applicstions:
 - Select a contiguous line object
 - Select a rectangular region of line objects (rectangle marquee)
 - Select a free-form region of line objects (lasso marquee)
 - Cut
 - Copy
 - Paste

I'm sure there are some fancy variations and semantics to consider, but the
above is the basic feature pattern, and would be a great addition to Quill.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
 - The latest as of 1/27/2012.

Please provide any additional information below.

I am *really* liking Quill! Even as it's still evolving, it is a remarkably
productive way to do free form notes and design work. Easier to erase and undo
than paper. Easier to switch colors than a whiteboard. Easier.... you get
the picture. :-)

Quill is by far the best handwrite app for android. Nevertheless, nothing
compares to Xournal on a thinkpad X41 tablet. I actually don't miss pdf
functionality because ezpdf is even better doing the task, but the ability to
reorganize my notes is a must. Without it paper gives the same funtionality and
does not run out battery.

+1 This is why I now mostly use Papyrus, even though it is not open source...

Please also allow for copy-paste between notebooks and different pages of the
same notebooks.

Allow selection of the area to be free-hand (not just rectangular) so to
quickly move part of the page to another location and quickly reorganize
content.

It's the single most important feature that keeps me with Lecture-Notes,
together with missing folder/organization possibilities of several notebooks
for different tasks.

+1 !
When I doing some math stuff, almost all the beginning parts of a page are
based on the ending parts of the previous page. I really need to see what I
wrote at the last of previous page when I start writing on a new page.
I think there should be either select, copy & paste, or I can continuously
scroll so that I can see both pages at the same time.

Thanks!

I love that quill is open source and mainly it's feature to create versatile
svg. This would be really useful for my note taking sync with orgmode. However,
lasso, move, scale, cut, copy paste are the features I need and why I use
Papyrus, and evaluate InfiniteDesign. If this feature would be added, I would
happily switch. Rotation of selections and Layers, also Grouping would be
awesome.
