Do you ever feel privileged to have that creative freedom? I am grateful for it. I know that I'm able to get people who don't want to give away any of their time to give me time now. That's not to do with my ability as a writer, but more the institutional backing I have - that editors are willing to trust me. But I also think it's a trap that it's essential I be wary of. In a way, I dread knowing how to "do a profile". If the pieces in Pulphead have any interest, it's in that the person writing them didn't really know what he was doing but had something he wanted to say and so was going to concoct the means to say it.
