Hmm,
According to
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info8559-ChatSettingsFixPatch2.4.html
this issue was caused by a bug in WoW client after 2.4, but the problem arises
only
when I have Prat eabled. When I turn Prat off everything is in order.
Tonight I'll check if that bugfix solves the problem.

I have a similar problem. I've disabled Guild, Officer, Party, Raid, and Raid
Leader
in the General tab as I use a separate tab for these. When I launch WoW with
Prat
enabled, they still show up on the General tab. If I go into the default WoW
settings
they are unchecked. I have to re-check and uncheck them again to disable them.
Logging in without Prat enabled and they behave as expected...no chatter in the
General tab.

This currently happens to me (i.e. after 2.4) and I can confirm that this error
was
occurring both _before_ and after installing and using Prat.

There are a fair few threads on the support forums, IIRC a Blizz employee has
commented but they have not yet confirmed it is a bug!
