Given the complexity involved with these parameter overriding in the API I decided I wanted to spell out the different options with different method names - so I have committed this in 4f9f8b710bcc715159b5d71a2691e33df77e0c25 and I also wanted to have the old setParameter method deprecated for sometime before removal.
