Share your Gatsby swag photos!

We’d love to see your swag out in the world: on you, your pets, your kids, your friends, your friends’ pets, your friends’ pets’ friend’s kids, or really wherever you want to put the swag.

We’ll choose some of these images to feature in the store or to use when we’re promoting the swag that appears in the photo. We won’t use these photos for anything else without getting your permission first.

Note: this was originally an issue to collect pet photos for SEO. It’s got so many amazing photos, though, that we don’t want to lose them.

To render optimally on all social sites, the submitted image should be at least 1200 pixels. Aspect ratio can be either square, 1200x1200 or 1.91:1 ie. 1200x675

@jlengstorf How about a separate page on the Gatsby Store which displays the shared swag, and has a form or something similar where people can share their images if they want to ?

Would love to work on it if you think the idea is good !

@anshuman73 that's something we really want to add. So far we haven't had the time to set up the underlying infra (e.g. where the photos would be stored) so we haven't moved forward on it. Ideally this will happen in the near-ish future.

@jlengstorf that's great ! Is there anyway I can help contribute to the code / application for the same or you'll look into it once you sort out the infrastructure requirements ? In the meantime, as a hack-ish, how about starting a page which gets the image posted on this issue? Also, just a suggestion, if Gatsby is unsure about being able to support the image storage infra, how about using image hosting sites like imgur, etc, and making the people posting the images aware of the side effects hence ?

@anshuman73 we need to think through implications like moderating photos before we can really do anything here. We can't allow things to go straight through or we risk abuse (e.g. advertising, inappropriate content), and we don't currently have any resources or plans for moderating community-submitted photos. It's definitely something we're looking at this year, so — for now — you'll have to stay tuned.

Once we've got a better idea of what this will actually look like, we'll put issues together to split out the work. At that point I'd love to have you involved.
