Genus name could be misspelling - Hylotomus - Hylatomus

This issue was reported on Helpdesk.

The genus Hylotomus seems to be a misspelling for the genus Hylatomus lineatus (Linnaeus, 1766)(https://www.gbif.org/species/10320728).

@TonyRees this originates from IRMNG where it is marked as uncertain: https://www.irmng.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=1417049

Then again there are specimens in Harvard under Hylotomus pileatus with 6 occurrences in GBIF, publications in JSTOR: https://www.jstor.org/stable/24722737?seq=1#metadata_info_tab_contents and quite a lot of other hits in google that look to be taken serious.

@mdoering OK I checked, Hylatomus is the correct spelling (e.g. see https://www.zobodat.at/pdf/DENISIA_0036_0007-0035.pdf), and Hylotomus is a misspelling thereof - flagged as such in the print version of Nomenclator Zoologicus, but not carried through to the online version/electronic file that I used for input to IRMNG - now correctly flagged as such in IRMNG. Hylatomus turns out to be an available name for New World species of the woodpecker genus Dryocopus for those who wish to use it (recent molecular evidence suggests a split is justified) but recent treatments seem to retain them in Dryocopus at this time - e.g. https://www.itis.gov/servlet/SingleRpt/SingleRpt?search_topic=TSN&search_value=178165 - although I guess that could change in future. So yes, Hylotomus is a misspelling; at present I have updated Hylatomus in IRMNG from "uncertain" to being a synonym of Dryocopus (for now), which could be changed in future. These changes will be in the next (March 2021) IRMNG data download. Thanks for the alert and reason to chase down a bit further - Cheers Tony

At the cited taxon page (https://www.gbif.org/species/4843207), the entry is now showing flagged as "doubtful", without any matched occurrences. I assume this means the issue can be closed - unless there is any mechanism for (and sense in) adding a "synonym" relationship @mdoering?
