A bioclomate non-projected global grid for cubes occurrence (EPSG:4326) #26

Hello,

I have been exploring the current options for creating global occurrence cubes and have run into some problems. Currently, the Quarter degree grid cell-QDGC is available for this purpose but when searching for a global QDGC reference grid I could not find it. In the zenodo repository many national QGCD grids are available but not a global one. This could be explained, among other things, by geographical distortions in certain regions. Without a global reference grid it is not possible to "rasterise" the CSV data cubes... I don't know if I'm missing something.

What comes to my mind is the possibility of offering a non-projected global grid (e.g. EPSG 4326) widely used by the modelling community and connected to the climate community. I would like to suggest the 30-second grid (~1 km at the equator) used by both WorldClim and Chelsa. One of the challenges could be the cell coding system, but we could find a good way around this.

@MattBlissett - this is something that has been asked as high priority request in the project executive meeting. The effort the need to send to reorganise things to be integrated with WorldClim is unreasonable
