It looks like we several dishes names as vernacular names both in the Catalogue of Life and EUNIS. I think we need to update the checklists at the source.
Oh also in de COL? I think the source of this is Fishbase
It looks like you're right about the market names:
https://fishbase.de/ComNames/CommonNamesList.php?ID=236&GenusName=Salmo&SpeciesName=salar&StockCode=250 https://fishbase.de/ComNames/CommonNamesList.php?ID=236&GenusName=Salmo&SpeciesName=salar&StockCode=250&market=y
I will contact Catalogue of Life and EUNIS and ask them to not include market names in their checklists.
Apparently some fish dishes are categorized or interpreted as synonyms from Fishbase. (Also from EUNIS database, who probably used fishbase).
As a result I have, by using the GBIF taxonomic backbone some Fish dishes in my Flemish Living Atlas.
Fishbase should be updated or remapped, assessed for the taxonomic backbone. they have a column for fish coocking treatment (=market ? )
Here is the source (probably): https://fishbase.se/glossary/Glossary.php?q=Filetti+di+salmone+svedesi&language=english&sc=is
