Hello @gdegoulet, I'm packaging JpegIPTC to Debian and I couldn't find the license of the images bellow.

Best regards, @devppjr

Hi @devppjr (https://github.com/devppjr)

https://github.com/gdegoulet/JpegIPTC/blob/main/P1000056.jpg (https://github.com/gdegoulet/JpegIPTC/blob/main/P1000056.jpg) : royalty-free image of my cat. https://github.com/gdegoulet/JpegIPTC/blob/main/strange.jpg (https://github.com/gdegoulet/JpegIPTC/blob/main/strange.jpg) : IPTC tag => 2:116 Copyright Notice String 16 AFP or licensors https://github.com/gdegoulet/JpegIPTC/blob/main/76bde3fc961f0fa8733756922d1e2ed06311d804ec38b89dc60d6ba36d30e046.jpg (https://github.com/gdegoulet/JpegIPTC/blob/main/76bde3fc961f0fa8733756922d1e2ed06311d804ec38b89dc60d6ba36d30e046.jpg) : IPTC tag not present but Copyright Notice should be "AFP or licensors" "may I change the images to images with free license" : the purpose of those pictures is to illustrate IPTC tags : so it's not a good idea to change them : i advise you to remove them from your package. see https://www.afp.com/ (https://www.afp.com/) For information : JpegIPTC is only used with thumbor for now

Best regards

Hi @gdegoulet,

the purpose of those pictures is to illustrate IPTC tags : so it's not a good idea to change them : i advise you to remove them from your package.

We know that! The idea is to replace non-free images (AFP) with free content images preserving IPTC tags.

Removing test images from the Debian package is a way to fix it. But you are distributing non-free content without mentioning it (Pypi package not include the test images, but Github package includes).

What do you think about create a README file just like thumbor? This way we can list all copyright holders and license. Similar what you did for 'credit' section in the README file.

IMHO, explicit is better than implicit.

Cheers!

I will remove all present picture with iptc tags and replace them with "free content-image" and "fake" iptc content.
