[Bug]: Do we need to still use sendgrid-actionmailer gem? #2261

Description

This gem might not be maintained any longer - https://github.com/eddiezane/sendgrid-actionmailer - is it something that is essential to us? Does anyone with better ops skills than me know why we might want or need to send emails using SendGrid's HTTPS Web API (instead of SMTP)?

This came out of https://github.com/geeksforsocialchange/PlaceCal/issues/2159

We do have a SENDGRID_API_KEY environment variable on staging and production, tho (?)
