e.g. Multi select fucked when there's tons of options (see collections) Collection maps don't show addresses with no matching Partner

Have just checked these - https://placecal.org/winter2017, https://placecal.org/winter2018 - there's only two collections and both are now more than 5 years old, and broken, which does not look great. Maybe we could remove for now and can always roll back if we want to add collections again in the future?

@kimadactyl what do you think about us removing these two collections from the database and beginning this dismantling?

kimadactyl commented 9 months ago

hard to say. people wanting to make a listing for a community festival is a really big use case we could sell, and its often the right place to start onboarding a new neighbourhood. we could also use the old festivals as part of the sales pitch to new people.

but this was a quick hack just to get it ready for the 2 years we did the paper mailout and i dont think itd be the most time lost to delete and remake it in the worst case.

so: yes i think its a useful feature one day, but if its getting in the way right now i dont think its a big deal to remove it? is it getting in the way?

oh i clicked through and they do look super broken, huh. yes might be better to cut them out then until we get the time to do this properly, or at the very least remove the routes.

Ok cool. I think so much has changed since then it would probably be easier for us to build a new feature if this came up rather than resurrect an old one, but for now I will just remove the existing records, and we can revisit this next time we're working on something that touches this part of the code.

id say if there was a way to somehow screencap / save the html page for demo purposes that would be great - but im assuming making the page presentable is non trivial. would be a nice to have if its not the biggest deal tho.

bit late now but maybe we should get in the habbit of chucking stuff in the wayback machine when it's active and healthy then we can refer back to them but not feel bad about weeding
