I would like to describe a meiotic recombination process, but it is occurring between sister chromatids.

a bit of additional info: Val's curating PMID:20123974, which describes "unequal sister chromatid recombination" (USCR) and "intrachromatid recombination" (ICR).
We're not sure if these are normal processes, but it looks like GO ought to include something about recombination between chromatids during meiosis, and/or about regulating whether recombination is within a chromatid, between sister chromatids, or between homologous chromosomes.

Decided as it isn't clear whether these are normal processes not to make this this term right now. If we need new terms request in new tickets. GO has no experts in recombination, and this node probably needs a larger overhaul, would need to recruit help.

GO:0007131 reciprocal meiotic recombination
Ontology Biological Process Definition The cell cycle process in which double strand breaks are formed and repaired through a double Holliday junction intermediate. This results in the equal exchange of genetic material ** between non-sister chromatids in a pair of homologous chromosomes*. These reciprocal recombinant products ensure the proper segregation of homologous chromosomes during meiosis I and create genetic diversity.

Is there, or can there be a more general meiotic recombination term with children?
Name This term is located in a node of the Gene Ontology where there are active ontology discussions. Please refer to the 'GO Discussions' tab for more information.
