endocrine hormone secretion #8848

Closed gocentral closed 9 years ago

gocentral commented 13 years ago

I’d like to see the children of “endocrine hormone secretion” expanded. I’d like to see “steroid hormone secretion” (The regulated release of a steroid hormone into the circulatory system.) added as a child of “endocrine hormone secretion”. It could be a parent of: cortisol secretion, ecdysteroid secretion, progesterone secretion, and the new terms:

corticosteroid secretion (The regulated release of steroid hormones that are produced in the adrenal cortex),

androgen secretion (The regulated release of male sex hormones.)

estrogen secretion (The regulated release of female sex hormones.)

Children of corticosteroid secretion would be:
mineralocorticoid secretion (child: aldosterone secretion), glucocorticoid secretion (The regulated release of steroid hormones that promote gluconeogenesis and the formation of glycogen.) (children: cortisol secretion-synonym hydrocortisone secretion, corticosterone secretion).

Children of androgen secretion would be: androstenedione secretion, dehydroepiandosterone secretion-synonym DHEA secretion, testosterone secretion. PMID:12606499

Children of estrogen secretion would be: Estrone secretion PMID:8395854

Estradiol secretion PMID:21632818

Also, “regulation of …, positive regulation of …, and negative regulation of …” for all of the aforementioned terms would be good.

Added terms in for the hormones that are already in GOCHE: steroid hormone secretion ; GO:0035929 corticosteroid secretion ; GO:0035930 mineralocorticoid secretion ; GO:0035931 aldosterone secretion ; GO:0035932 glucocorticoid secretion ; GO:0035933 corticosterone secretion ; GO:0035934 androgen secretion ; GO:0035935 testosterone secretion ; GO:0035936 estrogen secretion ; GO:0035937 estradiol secretion ; GO:0035938 (also added XPs in go_xp_chebi.obo)

Still to add (will need to add chemical to GOCHE (and XP file) at the same time): androstenedione secretion ; GO:NEW dehydroepiandosterone secretion ; GO:NEW estrone secretion ; GO:NEW

Have a couple of parentage queries relating to minor differences between CHEBI and GOCHE. I've put these in a new SF item: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3372369&group\_id=36855&atid=440764

Will do regulation terms via TG, when all terms are in, in correct position.

thanks Becky

Added the missing chemicals to goche, and the remaining terms to GO:

androstenedione secretion ; GO:0035941 dehydroepiandrosterone secretion ; GO:0035942 estrone secretion ; GO:0035943

Will add regulation terms via TermGenie, once the terms are live.

Hi Becky, Thanks for adding all those terms. However, the cortisol terms are missing. Thanks, Stan

Hi Stan,

The cortisol terms were there already:

cortisol secretion ; GO:0043400 regulation of cortisol secretion ; GO:0051462 negative regulation of cortisol secretion ; GO:0051463 positive regulation of cortisol secretion ; GO:0051464

So I just added 'hydrocortisone secretion' as a synonym to GO:0043400.

thanks Becky
