Considering a lot of bitcoin devs use IRC for communication, having a 24/7 connected IRC client that can be connected via a web interface is very useful.

Mumble also offers a docker build. But no web-ui. https://github.com/mumble-voip/mumble#build-and-run-from-docker

The only downside would be doxxing your home IP to IRC... There is a setting in the network connection to use a SOCKS proxy, but idk if it's possible to set a default proxy, and I'm sure freenode etc. blocks public tor exit nodes.
