The Patcher #1087

The patcher seems really bad with this. I'm constantly getting errors that it cannot verify and it hangs completely.

Redownloading the entire game isn't an option, and not really a fix. I never have these problems with the normal launcher and patching up the game. Just when using this one.

Had ARR-HW on PC, and bought Endwalker on sale. So I had to download 28gb of data for the movies and locations being added in. I ended up using 45gb of data.

I managed to get around 10gb of data patched with the QuickLauncher, however then I wasted 16gb of data, because it kept saying it could not verify a single one tagged 2022 3 30, while it still had three others to download. One was 2019, one was 2020, and one was 2021. Eventually I shut off the QuickLauncher and turned on the normal launcher.

It crashed and gave me an error, then finally started to download, around 18gb worth of the patch.

I dunno how to explain it, other than the fact that the QL was trying to install a patch from March 2022, while still having three other patches from as far back as 2019 that hadn't even been downloaded yet. And that is what messed it up that it continued to fail.

Patcher failing to verify patches means it's your internet.

You can try deleting the patch file that causes you trouble from the download directory (by default %AppData%/XIVLauncher/patches IIRC). As for the out of order versions, you're sure it was installing? XL downloads multiple patches at a time but applies them synchronously.

All I know is there was a 2022.3.30.0000.0001 it kept failing on. It was continuing to download the other three, so I didn't close out the error message.

It downloaded them to complete. I clicked okay and it must have deleted them all, because when I started it up once more, it was redownloading all four over again.

Seems like an error on a single patch file will mess up all four downloading at that time. Which is how I ended up burning 16gb.

If it had just saved those other files they would have been fine. But it kept downloading them over and over.
