Windows Twitgin "Configure Plugin" disabled #42

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Installed Twidgin 0.2.0 on Vista.
2. Opened the Plugins menu and selected the Twitgin-Plugin.
3. Unable to configure the plugin.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using Twidgin 0.2.0 with Pidgin 2.5.2 on Vista.

there is no configuration because, at this point, there is nothing to configure
at
all. What do you want to change in it?

Seeing the same problem because i wasn't seeing any way to add an account.

Looked at the plugin details and it said "Error: ABI version mismatch 2.5.x
(need
2.4.x)". Seems to me like it's looking for the older version specifically?

More info on prev. comment:

Was running an older version of pidgin (2.4.3) when i thought i was up-to-date.
 Once
up-to-date, plugin is active, account can be added. :) Whoops!

I'm running 2.5.2 of Pidgin and 0.2.0 of Twidgin - the Configure Plugin option
is
greyed out and I see no way to submit my Twitter info. How do I fix this? Wrong
version?

The configuration is all done in TwitterIM protocol plug-in (advance tab)

Twitgin is the GUI plug-in for Twitter.

So do i have to download this "TwitterIM protocol plug-in." Is it called
"Advance
tab"? Or what is that referring to?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
No, everything is included in the .exe file. It provides 4 plug-ins actually.

1. TwitterIM
2. Laconica
3. Identica
4. Twitgin

first 3 are protocol plug-in supporting correspond, the Twitgin is the plug-in
to
make the output of twitter looks more nice.

Most setting can be set in "Advance" tab of "TwitterIM" protocol configuration.
One
that will affect Twitgin is "Enable reply link"

Actually, if you are happy with plain text chat, you can just add TwitterIM and
ignore everythings.

Any ideas where to find that .exe file? Search engines aren't helping me find
anything. (thanks for all the help)

? It's all bundled in
http://microblog-purple.googlecode.com/files/pidgin-microblog-0.2.0.exe. Is it
not
inside the installer package?

Hi there. Having some issues as well.

I'm running Pidgin 2.5.4 and Twitgin 0.2.0 on Vista. I upgraded to the newest
version
of Pidgin before adding plugin just to make sure.

Then "Configure plugin option" in plugins default screen is unavailable,
unclickable,
gray. No errors reported on details, nothing seems wrong, except it isnt
working.

Any ideas? Thanks

? we never provide any "configure plug-in" for twitgin. All are configure in
advance
tab of twitter account.

I think there are some misunderstanding here. Anyone ever have "Configure
plug-in"
tab working? (not grayed), with options to be configured there?

Well, i can't even add the TwitterIM protocol. I have the 0.2 version and Pidgin
2.5.4. Maybe my version is so new? I can't see the protocol available or enable
the
Twitgin plug-in.

If my version is so new... could you adapt it, please? Or i'm doing something
wrong?

Yes, the greyed "Configure plug-in" is totally correct. That's what I have here
too.
Please do not report anymore bug regarding this issue. It is totally normal to
not be
able to configure twitgin.

The real problem is that you can not add twitterim protocol. The "version too
new"
might be the real problem. I will have to check first.

You know what would help? Explaining what Twitgin does.

Release notes says "Improve Twitgin support, no self-generated message also
being
renice".
README on wiki says nothing about it.
Plugin description says "Support Microblog-purple in the conversation window."

I turned it on just now (having been unaware of it until I just now went to
check on
a different plugin) and didn't see any noticeable changes to my TwitterIM
window. So yes, I too thought I had to configure it... for that very reason.

What improved is the reply link and /tag support. Without twitgin, you will not
be
able to see the tag line.

Anyways, I think (hope) that this confusion will gone in the next release, since
@nopparat found a way to completely handle all fancy formatting totally in
twitgin.
mbpurple will serve as protocol plug-in only.

Hi, installed this today. I am confused re: where the identi.ca plug-in
resides? I
don't see it in the protocol list -- am I missing something?

Other than that, it works. (A few crashes though...seems to happen whenever I
change
my settings...slight delay and then it goes down.)

Thx!

now enable reply link has been moved to twitgin preference, removed from
twitter and
identica account preference.

Change to fixed, since "Configure Plugin" is now available (though more
configurable
parameter may be added later)
