Allow remote server sync of MyFilms.xml config files #108

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
In multi seat environments with central server locations and many HTPCs, it is
time consuming to get the MyFilms.xml config file maintined for all HTPCs.
MyFilms should provide a way to sync a central config from the server to the
clients.
Procedure:
- Create/modify a (local) MyFilms.xml config
- configure the remote server (directory) on network tab
- upload this config to server (sync to server)
- configure remote directory an all HTPCs once
- activate "Autoatic sync on startup" on all HTPCs once
- Result: On startup of MP, MyFilms should pull the server side config file
into the local MP data directory.
Future changes to the config:
- manually pull server config (if automatic sync is not selected)
- Edit config on HTPC
- manually push config to server

Question:
If using central config sync, should we disable the respective menu options in
plugin? (e.g. to cahnge the dynamic menu etc.) - or should we add an option to
sync to server, so users can make changes to their local file and push it to
the server from the GUI?
