Customizable alias formatting #113

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.  Look at the chat from anything client other than GTalk that doesn't 
understand * means bold (Trillian for example)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
[10:30] TechOps: *jason:* matt's comments now appear as *matt:*
[10:30] Matt: this is heading in a downward direction
[10:30] TechOps: *jason:* minus the bold...
[10:30] TechOps: *fafa:* goodness, the new *blah*: format is horrid

Please provide any additional information below.
Please allow an option to return to the old "[matt] blah" format

We've reverted the * change with r294, we'll bring it back as an option, 
probably with these settings:
- "[<alias>]: "
- "*<alias>:* "
- custom (user can specify any string with <alias> in it)
