Backspace problem in webkit-desktop browsers #58

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use the backspace key(on the physical laptop/keyboard keyboard) in 
Chrome or safari.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected it to remove a character but instead the browser goes back a 
whole page.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.9.6, safari on windows, chrome on both windows and linux.

Please provide any additional information below.
This is a javascript problem, since this is not an issue in firefox.
