2 different NotoColorEmoji fonts? #487

Dear noto-emoji communty,

I was trying to configure Noto Color Emoji on my Linux machine and went to download the font. I found to different places to download, each seems different:

  1. https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Color+Emoji?query=emoji --> font file size 24MB (aprox)
  2. https://github.com/googlefonts/noto-emoji/raw/main/fonts/NotoColorEmoji.ttf (from this README repo) --> font file size 10.6MB (aprox)

I would like to understand what is the different between these 2 fonts? do they support the same purpose?

Noto Color Emoji is packaged for most Linux distros. Here is the package name for various distros
