Could you please try to "Capture Debug Strings"?
(see
https://code.google.com/p/tortoisegit/wiki/HOWTO_Debug#Capture_Debug_Strings)

TortoiseGit never should freeze the whole system (e.g., STRG+ALT+DEL should
always work - if it doesn't work, you have some other problem with your system).

A freezeing explorer could be caused by a slow network drive or device with
really slow read rates. Try to disable overlay icons/context menu on paths
where you don't need them.

You were right. It was not freezing the whole system but freezing the explorer.
I found the way to restart the explorer with out reboot.
I will try disable the overlay icons/context menus on unwanted paths and keep
you posted.

Meanwhile, just wanted to let you know that this problem was not faced by one
team member who has 64bit OS but faced by rest of the guys who has 32bit OS.

I've tried disabling the overlay icons but explorer still crashes :(

Please refer to the attached settings that I've used in my machine.

- Did you submit a crash report and can point us to it's id?
- Does the repository also crash on another pc?
- Can you provide us a copy of your repository?

- Did you submit a crash report and can point us to it's id?
<Suraj> Not sure where and how to do it? Can you explain?
- Does the repository also crash on another pc?
<Suraj> Yes. We have observed it in all three machines that uses 32 bit OS.
There is one machine that had 64 bit OS and which doesn't have this problem.
- Can you provide us a copy of your repository?
<Suraj> I don't think I can do that for 2 reasons. First, repository is about
300 MB in size and Second, it is not allowed as per the company policy.

@Suray

Did you deselect the crash reporter on TortoiseGit install?

Sorry, then you need to debug TortoiseGit on your own - we can't help you.

Wait.. Don't conclude..
I don't remember about that option. But, I can re-install with the crash
reporting option.

I have checked the installation. Crash Reporter has already on my computer. I
am not sure how to submit a crash report.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
The crash reporter should automatically pop up when it detects a crash.

So, without any debugging hint we cannot do anythoing. Sorry for that.

Maybe you can try to save the process memory using task manager and send it to
my via private mail (sven@tortoisegit.org).
