Eclipse Plugin disappears from eclipse. #4639

Originally reported on Google Code with ID 4639

Found in GWT Release (e.g. 1.5.3, 1.6 RC):

GWT 2.0

Encountered on OS / Browser (e.g. WinXP, IE6-7, FF3):

Windows 7 64-bit.

Detailed description (please be as specific as possible):

I am running Eclipse Galileo.

I have run the update for GWT from GWT 2.0 to GWT 2.0.1. Eclipse completes the update
and asks to restart. I click "Yes"
for it to restart, and when it comes back up, I no longer have the Google Toolbar,
with the buttons to compile and create a
new GWT project and such. The Google section in the preferences is no longer there.
There is no GWT launch configuration
when debugging.

I look under Installed Software, and it lists both the Google Eclipse Plugin, and GWT,
but it has disappeared from the
Eclipse User Interface.

I try to configure my GWT project build configuration, under the Libraries tab, I see
an entry that says "Persisted
container[com.google.gwt.eclipse.core.GWT_CONTAINER for project[(my project name)]]"

The only way I found to fix this issue was to completely reinstall Eclipse, and reinstall
the Google Eclipse Plugin and
GWT.

I now have had a similar situation happen when I attempted to install another third
party plugin to Eclipse. I was
attempting to install JFormDesigner for eclipse, and it didn't appear to install, so
I uninstalled it. I then noticed that
my Google Eclipse Plugin was in the same state again. None of the toolbar buttons
exist, or any of the Google preferences!

Shortest code snippet which demonstrates issue (please indicate where
actual result differs from expected result):

Workaround if you have one:

Uninstall/Delete Eclipse and remove .eclipse directory from my home directory. Launch
a fresh install of Eclipse, and
reinstall the Google Eclipse Plugin and GWT.

Got the same problem in Ubuntu 9.04. There's no need to re-install eclipse dough,
just remove the .eclipse folder and re-install all the plugins, being sure that the
Google plugin is the last one to be installed.

Ditto here, using Eclipse 3.5 and GWT Plugin 1.3.2.v201003242055 on Windows XP. I
really don't want to reinstall all my other plugins!
