Guide: How To Choose a Survey Platform for Your Surveys/User Testing

Overview

We need to create a guide that outlines which survey platforms are effective for Hack for LA (free versions) so that we can know what tools to use and when.

Anti goals

This guide will not tell you what questions to put in the survey, that is being addressed in issue #6

Action Items

[ ] Gather examples of how other Hack for LA projects or volunteers have done this (if applicable), adding each example as a link in the resources section below (you will end up using these in the guide)
- [ ] Once done, remove the "Guide: Gather Examples" label and add the "Guide: Research" label
[ ] Research advantages and limitations of each platform
- [ ] Once done, evaluate if the guide requires a template. If it does then
- [ ] if yes, remove the "Guide: Research" label and add the "Guide: Draft Template" label
  - [ ] Create a draft template
    - [ ] Once done, remove the "Guide: Draft Template" label and add the "Guide: Draft Guide" label
- [ ] if no, remove the "Guide: Research" label and add the "Guide: Draft Guide" label Create a draft guide, either in markdown format in this issue or a google doc in the ux/ui google drive
- [ ] Once done, remove the "Guide: Draft Guide" label and add the "Guide: Needs Peer Review" label
[ ] Review the guide with UX/UI community of practice
- [ ] Once done, remove the "Guide: Needs Peer Review" label and add the "Guide: Leadership Review" label
[ ] Present to the Hack for LA leadership team for sign off
- [ ] Once approved, remove the "Guide: Leadership Review" label and add the "Guide: ready publication" label

    - She utilized Google Forms as a survey platform once for a survey with a few questions
  - Responses
    - Google Forms is working well for her team
    - Melinda doesn't know what she would change in the future concerning this
    - The benefit of using Google Forms as a survey platform was that it was efficient since it allowed for immediate feedback as well as being very accessible and versatile (i.e., afforded different formats like multiple types of questions and was complex enough with both qualitative and quantitative options)
