Q: Can we have a centralized document in each shared drive with links to all the documents in that drive for easier lookup?

Rabia2219 commented 2 years ago

Q2: Why did we have to move the Google form to the internship gmail drive?

Rabia2219 commented 2 years ago

Q3: How do we search for members in a repo without going to issues?

Rabia2219 commented 2 years ago

Q4: Is there a way to make the links open in a new tab by default?

ExperimentsInHonesty commented 2 years ago

Q: Can we have a centralized document in each shared drive with links to all the documents in that drive for easier lookup?

A1: You could but no one would keep it up to date and it would just end up using up tons of time to make and then later its just more junk in the drive. What seems work well at HfLA, is documenting how we run the project in the wiki, and which documents got used during the process. See example here: https://github.com/hackforla/internship/wiki/Our-Process and for another project review the one we are making for TDM https://github.com/hackforla/tdm-calculator/wiki/Usability-Testing-2021-05

ExperimentsInHonesty commented 2 years ago

Q2: Why did we have to move the Google form to the internship gmail drive?

A: It should not have been moved, it should be moved back, and instead shortcuts to the file and folder and a note on the shortcut that explains not to move it because it has a file upload component

ExperimentsInHonesty commented 2 years ago

Q3: How do we search for members in a repo without going to issues?

ExperimentsInHonesty commented 2 years ago

Q4: Is there a way to make the links open in a new tab by default? A4: sadly no according to this resource. However, GitHub might change that in the future. If they do it probably will recognize html so it will look something like this

a href="https://www.w3schools.com" target="_blank"

and work like this Visit W3Schools

Q9: This is a mix of an observation, learning moment and questions:

This comment was copy/pasted from slack to GithHub and the slack handles were read as GitHub handles, that do not belong to the same people as the slack handles. So we have some random GitHub users tagged :) Questions:

ExperimentsInHonesty commented 2 years ago

Q5: Can we import labels from other projects/repositories?

Answer: yes, they just added that feature, however we have not yet explored how to make it work, and other projects already have other labels that we would not use. Needs more research before it can be used... don't hold your breath. Just get on with making the necessary labels.... but do ask me again if we are starting a project from scratch,

ExperimentsInHonesty commented 2 years ago

Q7: What does 'convert issues' mean? (It is one of the available options in the Labels tab)

Answer: there is a new feature called discussions, and they are asking you if you want to convert all issues using that label to a discussion board. Don't do it for any of our issues. We can discuss applicability later.

ExperimentsInHonesty commented 2 years ago

Q8: Why are 'role' labels different colors?

Answer: because its easier for members to find the issues that are only for them.

ExperimentsInHonesty commented 2 years ago

This comment was copy/pasted from slack to GithHub and the slack handles were read as GitHub handles, that do not belong to the same people as the slack handles. So we have some random GitHub users tagged :) Questions:

  • Are they able to access the comment?
  • We should probably 'untag' them?
  • Is there a way to avoid this or will it be a recurring human error?

Answer: yes, the people whose github handles those are, are getting emails from us. Which is why when I paste something from slack I try to put it in code quotes e.g.

@bonnie

yes, we should untag them yes, it will be a recurring human error, however if you use code quotes its less likely to happen. code quotes are a 3 backticks before and after what you want to put into a gray section that will be rendered as inert text (backtick= `)

How do I have access to this 'private' repo? https://github.com/orgs/hackforla/projects/4

A: I don't know, it's Ava's repo. It should be visible by only Me and other GitHub "Owners"

Rabia2219 commented 2 years ago

Is there a way to check when a member was added to a repo?

A: probably via the api, but not another way. If you can detail why you neeed info, that would help me find a work around.

Rabia2219 commented 2 years ago

https://github.com/hackforla/internship/issues/68#issuecomment-1000469176 How is the image visible in the comment? HTML code? I tried using the exclamation mark here...but it didn't work...

A: To add screenshots and other images to the issues, use the option at the bottom of this issue (see image) image

As a part of internship do we have a S/W product that we are working on or is in the roadmap? I did not come across anything on the github pages. I am trying to decide between the two teams I am observing and I would like to work on a tangible product .

A: We are going to create a software product but not anytime soon.

Hi Bonnie, I did some google search for Internship program. I can't find the platform where I'm supposed to add my findings.

@MariaSailo Answer: You can see any issues you have been assigned to by doing these steps:

Priyanka wants to know when this project will be listed on the website.

Note: I tried these commands again and they worked just fine...I've figured that GitHub breaks more often than not and to just leave what's not working for a bit and try it again after a while...

How do you strikethrough multiple lines that have line breaks on GitHub? I've tried:

~ ~
<del> </del>
<strikethrough> </strikethrough>

but they don't seem to work...

Q: Can we add these WIKI pages to the respective WIKIs?

Part A: I have an idea for how to handle this requirement. I would like to create a WIKI page on the CoP WIKI as an example. Is that okay?

I was impatient and to help illustrate what I mean...I made these pages as an example on my personal repo...

Resources for onboarding during PM CoP meeting ![PMCoPonboarding](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/75643389/163751339-8bc66993-9cf3-42d1-a423-8178cd8851e8.png)

A: This got resolved. It was actually about Product Management repo. We made the following changes in response Edited https://github.com/hackforla/product-management/wiki/Onboard-Offboard to add text and links

A page created on your project repo's wiki (see template | see example from Internship project)

Added a new page template

Updated the Internship onboarding wiki page from Internship project)

Q: Can we set a default number of rows when creating a new Google Sheet? (Rabia will check)

A: No. It is set to 1000 by default. I found the quickest way to delete unwanted columns and rows. Instructions as follows:

A2: @Rabia2219 thanks for finding the tutorial. I have added it to this page https://github.com/hackforla/product-management/wiki/Google-Sheets

Rabia2219 commented 2 years ago

Part B: Related to this, I have another idea about creating WIKI pages similar to 2022 Internship Cohort Program Overview for our Research and Design Process Overview. (It would go under Learn More on the Volunteer Overview page). Same question, is it okay to create a WIKI page as an example on our WIKI?

I was impatient and to help illustrate what I mean in this part of the question...I made these pages as an example on my personal repo...

A: Created the page on our WIKI. Bonnie will review it and make the necessary edits.

Kelly (former lead designer who helped us create a brand book) asked Q: Is it possible to setup a deck and presentation in a keynote or Pitch (presentation software with existing formats?) A: We standardize on Google Docs (including slides)

bradyse commented 1 year ago

From UXR Team Q: Can we work with non-TWE HfLA volunteers to create a guide for card sorting (from UI/UX) and one for thematic analysis (TWE)? A: Anything that is specific to TWE should be branded to TWE. If the guide is good for everyone at HfLA in UI/UX, then it should be a HfLA guide and some examples can be from the TWE team. The TWE guide would be much more specific to this project (reference other generalized HfLA guides for general info on how to thematic analysis).

Q: If an issue is incorrectly labeled as a different issue, do we need to create a new label for the issue? @alaishasayed can you please add the Answer here in this issue comment? Thanks! @bradyse

pandanista commented 1 year ago

Q: Should RP018 be tagged as part of intern research roadmap or mentor research roadmap? This question remains from our weekly UXR meeting on 10/18. I am working on #286, and would like to get some clarity on that. Thank you! @pandanista

Action Items moved to issue comment and you were unassigned since you are now working on the issue involving Otter.ai transcription. Thanks!

A: It appears that RP018 should be part of the Mentor Research Roadmap.

bradyse commented 1 year ago

Q: Kanban Question: For issues labeled as role: UX research lead, can the UX Lead close the issue if one of the last steps (but not THE last step) is product sign-off? Or should the role be changed to Product and the issue put in the prioritized backlog? See reference issue below:

A: Yes, the issue can be closed. If there are specific questions about the issue, you can bring them up at the next meeting. Sometimes there are task items in the middle of the action list. Those should be seen as touchpoints to coordinate with the role, but it doesn't change the role assignment during that point or after unless explicitly specified.

Q: I am seeing mentions of a "Research Plan: IS22 Total Research Plan Overview" within documents but there are no labels for it in Github. Is this Research Plan still being formed?

A: Go search the drive where you saw this document referenced. As part of the wiki audit during our team meeting 2023-02-23, we have reopened this issue.

Formatting deck for printing #357

A: @bryannalim Good work. You can move the issue into "Question/Review", and add the "Role: Product" label.

The following questions are related to #139 that @TobyShanti is working on, and we need some clarification.

Q1: Who is the intended user for the rating system for interview preparedness?

Q2: To measure the improvement, are we implementing a longitudinal study using repeated measures?

Q3: Did we take any notes during interviews?

Q4: Would it make more sense to do this after we conduct data analysis for RP006 and RP012 since we will have the transcripts? A4: The rating system is derived from the application interview, not intake or exit interviews. So RP006 and RP012 are not relevant to this issue.

Q5: In terms of the structure of the rating system, are we looking for something similar to the screenshot below?

Screenshot 2023-03-09 at 1 33 09 PM

A5: We are planning to use checklist to rate the interns' soft skills and culture during the application interview.

Q: Where do you find image assets related to various projects? For example, where would I find the rest of the images related to this image? https://github.com/hackforla/internship/assets/37763229/153893cf-8ad8-47cb-ad59-842389ac884a

A: This directory is where some of them are https://github.com/hackforla/website/tree/gh-pages/assets/images/sdg. I will let the website team know that we will need 1, 4, 10

KC-skc commented 6 months ago

What would be the best way of updating the e-mail address on record for Google Workspace Admin? Can someone contact me directly, or is this appropriate to address at any particular meeting?

image

A: we don't need to update the email address on record for the Google Workspace admin. The warning message in your screenshot is going to happen if you are adding people to the calendar, no matter if you log in via your own email or the email on the project (internship@hackforla.org). The warning references the fact that the email you are trying to add is not sharing the hackforla.org domain. Google calendar is designed to be an enterprise first application, so the warning was designed to make sure that people know when they are inviting someone outside of the organization. Since everyone on the internship meeting is outside the org, just ignore the warning and invite anyway.
